Elvin “Murel” Torbett, age 75, of Grand Ridge, Florida, passed away Friday, October 5, 2018, in Marianna, Florida. Murel was born on June 9, 1943 and was a lifelong resident of Jackson County. She was a Human Service Worker with the Sate of Florida until retirement. After retirement, she enjoyed being a homemaker and loved canning. She was of the Assembly of God faith.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Emmett and Elvin Middleton, and a step-grandson Riley Torbett.
She is survived by her husband Jack Torbett of 15 years; sons David Joseph Alday (Brenda) of Marianna, Florida, and John Allen Alday (Kathy) of Altha, Florida; stepchildren Stacy Davis (Scott), Kindall Torbett (Janie), and Rex Torbett (Dana) all of Marianna, Florida. Brother Earl Middleton (Jeanette) of Cypress, Florida; sisters Clara Young (Robert “Bob”) of Marianna, Florida and Mary Ferrell (Autry) of the Shady Grove Community; grandchildren, Derek Alday (Mallory) and Jesse Alday (Randi); step-grandchildren, Daniel Foster (Brandi), Joshua Foster (Beth), Everett Baggett (Brittany), Ashton Baggett (Ciara), Megan Davis, Taylor Torbett, Austin Torbett, Corey Davis, and Caleb Torbett. Murel is also survived by six great-grandchildren and six step great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Rolan Bamberg. Interment will follow in the Cypress Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.
