Sheila Alice Settlemire Parish

Sheila Alice Settlemire Parish, 82, of Marianna, FL passed away on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.

Sheila was born on June 15, 1935 to Warren Kenneth Settlemire and Elsie Myrtle McClellan Settlemire in Blountstown, Florida. She graduated from Port Saint Joe High School in 1953 and attended Chipola Junior College. Sheila married Stephen J. Parish on October 5, 1953 in Wewahitchka, Florida and moved to Marianna where they made their home for the next 65 years. Sheila Parish was a member of the Junior Women’s Club, Elk’s Lodge, Jackson County Sheriff’s Posse, and First Baptist Church of Marianna, although she also frequently attended New Salem Baptist Church near her home. She enjoyed horseback riding, going to weekly lunch dates with girlfriends, and traveling in her camper with family.

Sheila is preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Elsie McClellan Settlemire.

Sheila is survived by her husband, Steve; three children, Sue Oshesky of Tallahassee, Vicki Tew and husband, Donnie, of Marianna, Christopher Parish and wife, Laura, of Marianna; her brothers, Kenneth Settlemire and wife, Martha, of Blountstown and Robert Settlemire and wife, Patricia, of Midway, Kentucky; eight grandchildren, Sundra and husband, Edward, Tara, Lee and wife, Jackie, Dana and husband, Mike, Drew, Hailey, Alexis, Chayton; and four great-grandchildren, Shelby, Neva, Cade and Ryder; and many special friends.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 10, 2018 from 5pm to 7pm at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Joey Woodruff officiating.  Funeral services will also be at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home on Monday, June 11, 2018 at 2pm. Internment at Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery to follow.

Timothy Ray Lewis

Timothy Ray Lewis, 60, of Altha, FL passed away on Monday, June 11, 2018 at his home. He had lived in Altha, Florida for 30 years. Timothy was born on February 13, 1958 to Donald R. Lewis and Margie Clemmons Lewis in Bainbridge, Georgia and was of the Baptist faith.  He was a veteran of the United States Navy and loved hunting and taking his wife fishing.

Timothy is survived by his wife, Teresa; one son, Timothy Jason Lewis and wife Amanda of Panama City; his parents, Donald R. and Margie Clemmons Lewis of Sneads, one sibling, Wendell Shane Lewis and wife Rebecca of Crawfordville; one nephew, Waylon Lewis and wife Kaye of Sneads; and grandchildren , Madeline Lewis and Tristen Bruner.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 from 2pm to 4pm at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.

Beatriz Martha Cohen, 93, of Powder Springs, GA passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at her home. She was born on February 17, 192     5 in Havana, Cuba to Jose Gallinat and Patria Martinez. Beatriz came to the United States in 1962 with her daughter Martha and resided in Miami, FL. Her most proud accomplishment was the day she became a US citizen.  She is survived by her daughter Martha Bush and husband Robert Sr. of Marianna; Grandchildren Michelle, Jennifer, Christine, Robert Jr, and many great & great great grand children whom she loved dearly. A time of visitation will be held on Monday June 18, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. – 1:45 p.m. at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home. A procession will follow to Riverside Cemetery where a graveside service will be held.

Ruby Lee Cox Anderson

Ruby Lee Cox Anderson, age 88 of Marianna, FL, peacefully slipped from us to God’s presence on June 20, 2018 at her residence. She was a lifelong resident of Jackson County Florida and a member of Caverns Road Church of Christ. After graduating from Malone High School, she began her career at Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee, Florida, where she retired after working for over thirty years. Seeing her grand and great grandchildren brought her great joy as well as flowers, bird watching and an insatiable desire to go fishing.

Ms. Anderson is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years, George Anderson, a son Robert Anderson, her parents, Charles and Ola Cox, five brothers and three sisters. 

She is survived by two daughters, Patricia and husband Donnie Hall of Marianna, Florida, Carol and husband James Dub Stearn of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, daughter in law Kathy Anderson Rehberg of Marianna, Florida, five grandchildren, Brandon Anderson, Justin Hall and wife Karla, Risa Knock and husband Evan, Kari Oliver and husband Jonathan, Selena Lafferty and husband Trevor, one brother Alfred Cox and wife Sharon of Paramore Community, one sister in law, Pearl Cox of Paramore Community, one brother in law, Willard Anderson of Lynn Haven, Florida, and eight great grandchildren, Nathan, Maddox, Colin, Stella, Wyatt, William, Escher and Lillian. 

Services for Ms. Anderson will be held Saturday June 23, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with visitation between the hours of 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery, Altha, Florida.

Hiram “Rusty” Bennett, Jr.

Mr. Hiram “Rusty” Bennett, Jr. age 69 of Marianna passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Bay Medical Center. He was a resident of Jackson County for 50 years and was a member of St. Lukes’ Episcopal Church.  The most important things in his life were his family and his pets.  He was an avid Alabama football fan and loved spending time at “The Lake”.

He was preceded in death by his father Hiram F. Bennett.

Survivors include his mother Nettye Joe Bennett of Sneads, his loving wife of 48 years, Mimi Bennett of Marianna; sons Jeremy Shayne Bennett of Panama City Beach, Byron Austin Bennett and wife Heather of Milton, FL.; brothers Joe Bennett and wife, Selisa of Sneads and Greg Bennett of Gainsville; sisters, Susan Dapheny Lewis and husband, Ray of Lake City, Fl; grandchildren Camden Bennett, Grayson Bennett and Isabella Bennett and a host of nieces and nephews.

A time of visitation will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2018 from 6 to 8 P.M. at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with interment to follow at Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Mac McSwain Jamie Holland, Don Potts, Sonny McArthur, Chuck Lockey and Terry Davis. 

Flowers will be accepted or donation may be given to the charity of your choice in memory of Mr. Bennett.

Pansy Stob, 81, of Graceville, FL passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Signature Healthcare in Graceville, FL. She was born to Coleman and Lillie Avery in Perry, FL on July 1, 1936. Pansy loved her family, they mean the world to her. She enjoyed gardening and flowers. She was a very sociable person.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband William Stob; brothers Robert Avery, James Grant Carter, and Johnny Claude Carter; sisters Dorothy Burch and Margaret Paramore, and grandson Rodney Hightower.

Survivors include her daughters Glenda Jenkins and husband Richard, and Betty Ruth Speights; Grandchildren Jennifer, Chris, Clint, Earl, Willie, Tiffany, Stephanie; 12 great grandchildren; Great great grandson Oliver and one great great granddaughter on the way.

A viewing will be held for on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 9:00 A.M. with a service following at 10:00 A.M. at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.

Richard Campbell

Richard Campbell, 74, of Cottondale, Florida passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2018 in Syracuse, New York while visiting his family. He was born June 13, 1944 to Donald and Beatrice Campbell in Sidney, New York. Richard had a decorated military career spanning from May 15, 1963 through August 31, 1986.  He retired and moved to Cottondale, Florida in 1986 where he began his second career with the State of Florida in the Department of Labor. While employed with the Department of Labor, he earned the Davis Productivity Award and the Unsung Heros in the Trenches Award for Hurricane Relief.  He retired again in 2011 to enjoy a real retirement with his family. He enjoyed cooking, traveling, and spending time with his family.  He was unselfish and willing to help anyone.   Richard is of the Methodist Faith and attended the First United Methodist Church of Cottondale.  

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister Sandy; nephew Jeffery; grandson Cole, and half-brother Seth.  Survivors include his wife Delores Campbell of 54 years; sons Richard Campbell II of Cottondale, Florida, Michael Campbell and wife Melinda of Cottondale, Florida; sisters Elaine Starbuck(Jim), Patricia Gonyea(Gary), and Darlene Campbell(Don); grandchildren Chase, Hailey, and Isabelle Campbell; along with a host of nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held on Monday, July 16, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with a service following at 2:00 p.m. at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.

Lucinda “Cindy” Ruth Clark

Lucinda “Cindy” Ruth Clark, 65, of Marianna, Florida passed away on July 11, 2018 at her home. Cindy was a native of Marianna having lived here most of her life and had also lived in Pensacola for 20 years. She was a member of Marvin Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.   She was retired from the state of Florida where she served as a counselor. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ruth Grant Owens and Russell Owens, sister Iris Parrish, and brother Lawrence Owens.    

Survivors include her son, Hoke Davis Clark, daughter, Amanda Nicole Clark and husband Tory Hussey; brothers Wayne McDaniel and wife Carol, Johnnie McDaniel, sisters Doris Carpenter and husband Robert, Helen Peters; two grandchildren, Cyann Clark-Hussey and Torin Clark- Hussey.

There will be a visitation on Friday, July 13, 2018 from 6:00p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.

Harold Nelson

Harold Nelson, 81, of Chipley, Florida passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 in Dothan, Alabama.  He was born on January 24, 1937 to John Oscar and Eva Kent Nelson.  Harold was a member of the Oakie Ridge Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. 

Harold proudly served his country in the United States Army and had a long and successful career of 46 years with AT&T in Chipley.  After his retirement,  he gave selflessly of his time to volunteer.  He along with countless church members,  completely renovated Oakie Ridge Baptist Church.  He also helped with the local Habitat for Humanity.  He would travel hundreds of miles to assist  communities after natural disasters.  Harold also enjoyed restoration of old tractors and cars.  His favorite was 280Z’s.

He loved his wife of 58 years, family, church and friends.  He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Horace Nelson; sisters, Mildred Tindell, Bertha Jones, and Joyce Ellis.

Survivors include his wife, Annette Gainer Nelson of Chipley, daughters, Lisa Hamilton and husband John of Marianna, Florida; Sandra Kaye Morris and husband Bryan of Daphne, Alabama; sisters, Mary Ellen Johnson and husband Jimmy of Pensacola, Florida and Janice Ann Wheeler and husband Ralph of Chipley; grandchildren Kyle Patrick Morris and Kayla Nicole Morris.

Services for Mr. Nelson will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Oakie Ridge Baptist Church in Chipley, Florida with Rev. Russell Carlisle and Rev. Phillip Gainer officiating. Interment will follow in Oakie Ridge Baptist Cemetery.  A time of visitation will be held on Friday, July 13, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. at Oakie Ridge Baptist Church.

Active pallbearers will be Easton Nelson, Howard Ellis, Tim Wheeler, John Taylor, Mitchell Gainer, and Randy Gainer.

Janet Owens, 58, of Grand Ridge, FL passed away on Monday July 2, 2018 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center.  She was born to Andrew and Norma Owens in Plainwell, Michigan on November 4, 1959.  She loved gardening and she was very active in her church. She was preceded in death by her parents.  Janet is survived by her daughters; Autumn Mae of Pensacola and Jade Brooke Fears (James) of Grand Ridge; sister Doris Owens of Grand Ridge; granddaughter Tavy Fears, and her beloved pet CoCo.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 10:00 am located at Providence Baptist Church in Grand Ridge, FL.

Wendy Collins

Wendy Collins, 42, of Marianna passed away on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany Georgia.  She was born on April 29, 1976 in Quincy, Florida.  She was a lifelong resident of Jackson County.  Wendy loved her kids, riding dirt roads and mud bogging.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Emily Alday and brother Jimmy Jones.

Survivors include her father, Billy Jones, Wayne and Sherrell Ward who she was raised by; daughters, Kendall Collins, Jayden Collins; brothers, Bobby Jones, Anthony Ward, Edward Ward, Billy Ward; sisters Anna Ruiz, Amy Cortes, Jody Connell, Brenda Thomas, Loretta Davis, Stephanie Sims, Kayla Lawrence along with a host of nieces and nephews and an extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held Saturday July 21st at 10:00 a.m. at The Sanctuary on 4070 Old Cottondale Road, Marianna, Florida.

Marilyn Faye Gregg Pumphrey

Marilyn Faye Gregg Pumphrey

Marilyn Faye Gregg Pumphrey, age 67, was born on March 5, 1951, in Grand Ridge, Florida, and passed away on July 16, 2018, at Capital Regional Medical Center in Tallahassee, Florida, following a 2-year battle with metastatic renal cell carcinoma.  A lifelong resident of Jackson County, she retired in 2010 after teaching/counseling primarily in adult education for 35 years, during which time she touched many lives.  She was a devoted Christian and dedicated member of Eastside Baptist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the worship choir, teaching Sunday school, and serving in several other ways.  

Marilyn is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Bernice Robbirds Gregg, formerly of Marianna, Florida; and her father, Charlie Howell Gregg, formerly of Grand Ridge, Florida.  She is survived by her husband, Thomas Lloyd Pumphrey of Marianna, Florida; her daughter, Cherra Faye Pumphrey Cripe, and son-in-law, Andrew Flint Cripe, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; son, Derron Thomas Pumphrey, daughter-in-law, Kirsten Ann McKevitt Pumphrey, and grandson, Nathan Thomas Pumphrey, of Dothan, Alabama; daughter, Terra Beth Pumphrey Parish, and son-in-law, Casey Lee Parish, of Tallahassee, Florida; sister and brother-in-law, Sylvia and Henry Stephens of Marianna, Florida; sister and brother-in-law, Vickie and Jimmy Parris of Marianna, Florida; brother/sister-in-law, Floyd and Bonnie Pumphrey of Cottondale, Florida; brother/sister-in-law, Bob and Dorothy Donham of Las Cruces, New Mexico; brother/sister-in-law, Doyle and Barbara Pumphrey of Marianna, Florida; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.  A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, her beautiful life and memory will be treasured always.

Marilyn’s visitation will be held at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home on Thursday, July 19, 2018, from 5 PM – 7 PM.  Her memorial service will be held at Eastside Baptist Church in Marianna, Florida, on Friday, July 20, 2018, at 10 AM with Reverend Dallas Ellis serving as officiating pastor, followed by a graveside service at Riverside Cemetery.

Virginia Guyton Amann

Virginia Guyton Amann, 90, of Jacksonville, FL passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at her home in Mobile, AL. She was born on July 25, 1927 to Edna and Albert Guyton Jr. Virginia was of the Methodist faith and a longtime resident of Jacksonville, FL before relocating to Mobile, AL due to sickness. She loved to watch tennis on television, enjoyed cooking, and loved to sew.

She is preceded in death by her son, Almond Couturier III, and five sisters.

Survivors include sons, Jeffery Couturier and wife Cheryl of Savannah, GA, Stephen Couturier and wife Linda of Marianna, FL, Spencer Couturier and wife Stephanie of Wintzville, MO, Timothy Couturier and wife Nicole of Kansas City, MO; daughters Allison Fowler of Vidalia, GA, Kimberly Klug and husband Donald of Mobile, AL; brother Byron Guyton III and wife Bobbie of Jacksonville, FL; sister Doris Forlow of Orlando, FL; special care taker Zelda Lee of Jacksonville, FL; 13 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 10:00am at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Dr. Randy Peel and Pastor Paul Smith officiating with internment to follow at Lipford Cemetery in Jackson County.

Judy Ann Brown

Judy Ann Brown, 72, of Malone, FL passed away on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Jackson Hospital. She was born on August 31, 1945 in Jackson County. Ms. Brown was lifelong resident of Malone, Florida and a member of the Friendship Baptist Church. She retired from her career as a nurse at Sunland in Marianna, FL. Judy loved animals, caring for her dog Baby-Girl, her ducks, chickens, and tending to her cows. Most of all she loved her extended family and many friends.

Judy is preceded in death by her mother Vermell Hall, stepfather Lethan Hall and father Edward Brown. She is survived by her companion Clifton Baxter and family, and Aunt Faye Jones and family. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 27, 2018 at Friendship Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Carr officiating. The family will receive friends one-hour prior to the service with interment to follow at the church cemetery.

Mary Ann Kevilly, 53, passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2018 in Panama City, Florida. Mary was born on March 12, 1965 in Versailles, Kentucky to the late Virgil and Deleta Stone. She was a resident of Bonifay, Florida since 1992. She loved arts and crafts, gardening and puzzles.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband Kevin Kevilly of Bonifay, Florida; son Paul Daniel Stone, of Bonifay, Florida; daughter Deanna Kevilly of Bonifay, Florida; brothers Danny Ray Stone and George Stone both of Kentucky; sister Cheryl Wilson of Titusville, Florida.

Funeral services will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service.

Ima Jean Davis

Ima Jean Davis, 76, passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2018 in Marianna, Florida. Ima Jean was born on December 7, 1941 in Sneads, FL.  She was of the Pentecostal faith and attended Sneads Pentecostal Holiness Church regularly. Ima Jean liked to cook but most of all loved being a mother and grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Earlene Lewis and sister Carolyn Scott.

Ima Jean is survived by her husband William E. Davis; daughter Deborah Dunagan and husband Gary; brother Ronald L. Lewis and wife Valarie; sister Linda Jones and husband John; and grandchild Brandy Dunagan.

Memorial services for Ima Jean will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Sneads Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Jimmy D. Wright officiating.

Betty Joyce Carter, 78, passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2018 in Marianna, Florida.  Betty was born on February 9, 1940 in Round Lake, Florida.  She was a native of Alford, Florida.  Betty enjoyed fishing and going on picnics.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and two sisters.

Betty is survived by her son Denis VanPelt; daughter Sherry Williams; grandchildren Brandon N. Williams, Sgt of the US Army, and Tonya Williams; great granddaughter Aaliyah Williams.

A visitation for Betty will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.

Shirley Simmons

Shirley Simmons, affectionately known as Meme, age 75 of Alford, Florida passed away Thursday, August 9, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family.

She enjoyed hunting for a bargain, collecting knick-knacks and rocks, working in her yard, riding her golf cart, watching the birds and squirrels out her front window, cooking pound cakes, watching Wheel of Fortune and Saturday night Mollie B. Polka Party.  She especially loved traveling to see the “grands” and talking to anyone who would listen about her children and grandchildren (the pride of her life).  In recent years, she had a renewing of her faith, evidenced by a hunger for God’s word and an excitement for Bible study and attending her church.  She was deeply humbled by His many blessings in her life and extremely grateful for His Great Grace!

She is proceeded in death by her daughter Kimberly Shouppe; grandson, Tyler Goetter; her father, Price Burch; brother, Lynwood Burch; sister Lavern Taylor; first husband John W. Shouppe and second husband Johnnie Simmons.

Surviving relatives include her daughter Abby (Glenn) Goetter of McDavid, Florida; sons, Greg (Gail) Shouppe of Marianna, Florida, and Joe Shouppe of Cottondale, Florida. Her mother, Mattie Connor of Greenwood, Florida; sister Hazel (Lloyd) Russ of Chipley, Florida and brother, Wendell (Lynn) Burch of Dothan, Alabama; sister-in-Law, Linda Burch of Marianna, Florida, eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and many more relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at New Hope Baptist Church in Marianna with burial to follow in the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church Cemetery in Cottondale. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
